CIRQL Ferries

Investment overview

CIRQL Ferries is developing a fully electric, passenger-only ferry network connecting downtown Vancouver directly with Gibsons and Bowen Island. BC Ferries' existing car-ferry routes to these communities already carry over 4 million passengers annually, with ridership forecast to grow through 2028 -- demand that is increasingly constrained by vehicle-ferry capacity and congestion at Horseshoe Bay. CIRQL addresses this gap with a faster, direct downtown connection: a new, convenient gateway for visitors to reach BC's coastal communities without a vehicle or the existing terminal system. The journey is part of the experience -- a quiet, scenic, zero-emission crossing through BC’s spectacular Howe Sound.

By pairing sustainable marine transportation with direct access to coastal tourism destinations, CIRQL will make day trips, overnight stays, and multi-destination travel easier for both domestic and international visitors, targeting roughly 12% of the addressable market at stabilization, averaging 1,350 daily travel movements.  Travel projections have been independently verified by KI Squared, a Vancouver-based transportation planning and advisory firm with extensive experience in demand forecasting.

The opportunity is de-risked by secured non-dilutive government incentives, including the federal Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit and a BC Hydro Energy Storage Incentive, alongside a finance-lease facility for the majority of project cost.
